Lovely home that accommodates those with limited mobility

The Boathouse is all that was advertised and more. The neighborhood was quiet and walkable. The distance to town/water and all its activities was a hop, skip and jump (and easy walk). The house’s accessibility for my mother-in-law, who uses a walker and needs appropriate... more aids in the bathroom, was very important and made her stay easier and comfortable. Ladies getaway

There were four of us ladies. We were celebrating one of the ladies 60th birthday. We loved the house. It was nice everyone had their own bed. We used the kitchen a lot. It was exceptionally hot for October in Monterey, it would have been nice if the screens were in the family room windows. We did open the bedroom windows and the slider. Beautiful House

The Boathouse met all of our expectations. We stayed with our son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter. It was close enough to the Aquarium and Cannery Row to walk. California Trip

My family of 4 came out to CA for my soldier's graduation from DLI, Presidio of Monterey. The Boathouse was wonderful, clean, close to everything we needed. It was lovingly decorated and landscaped. Terrific home away from home

The boathouse was just what was needed for our little 4 day vacation. It was close to everything yet in a quiet neighborhood. The house was clean and spacious enough for the 3 of us (would be fine for 4). We did no cooking in... more the home, but it seemed to be well supplied with dishes/cookware. The little sunroom was a nice place to sit and read a book and the outside area, while small, was comfortable. The beds and bedding were high quality. The design of the master bathroom was a bit awkward--no way to turn on the shower without being under it, but not a game changer. Perfect couples or small family home!

We have rented several different homes on our semi-annual jaunt to Pacific Grove, Monterey, Carmel and the Pebble Beach area. The Boathouse is our favorite among all of them. Great layout for adults and children, making the house feel much larger than its actual size.... more The furnishings, beds, linens, etc. are all top notch The house offers multiple seating options both inside and out, to be your home base for enjoying all that the peninsula has to offer, or simply just relax. The "Boat Room" is a private "museum" of a wonderful look at collector ships and touches of historical sea life. The large windows along the west side of the house give such a great view of the sea and a glimpse at Pacific Grove Golf Links- a must play course for those who enjoy golfing and deer! The house's location is perfect for sauntering into town up Lighthouse Blvd, with restaurants and shops of all kinds. Butterfly Grove and The Lighthouse, itself, are just a few blocks away, in opposite directions. The house sits just a few blocks from the ocean, as well, and its walking trail, small beaches, tidepool areas and is in very close proximity to to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and The Wharf for clam chowder tasting- Yum! We give The Boathouse a 5 Star+ rating! less

Had a wonderful stay in Pacific Grove & Monterey! Easy rental thru Monterey Rentals. "Boat House" was absolutely perfect for our family. Very clean and comfortable, with recently updated bathrooms, and everything we needed for our visit; TVs, DVD players, funky board games, binoculars, computer,... more and washer & dryer. Nicely decorated throughout and had a very homey feel. Kitchen had all the essentials. Enjoyed lovely patio/garden area for BBQ & s'mores. Added bonus was beautiful ocean view from living room and seeing deer at local golf course. Beach just a few blocks away & we saw whales, otters, & seals. 17-Mile Drive and Los Lobos State park should not be missed; such amazing views! ---Negatives: Garage is very tight, would not work for big autos. No computer printer. ---TIP: AAA members get Aquarium discounts by purchasing tickets at AAA office only (no AAA discount given at Aquarium ticket counters) & ticket allows entry at "members" gate (no lines!) less

Wonderful Stay at The Boathouse

We chose Pacific Grove for a few day’s stop for our family of four enroute from San Francisco to Santa Barbara. We absolutely loved the Boathouse. Located on a quiet street with views of the Pacific and Lover’s Point, the Boathouse is full of all... more the amenities you, plus unique and cozy decor and sitting areas as well as driveway parking. The succulent gardens and outdoor patio were delightful. We love the quieter nature of Pacific Grove with wonderful restaurants, cute shops, farmer’s market and movie theater and great bookstore/coffee shop all a very short walk from the house. Monterey Aquarium and Cannery Row are just a mile down the road easily accessible by a good walk, a car or the nearby bike path. 17 Mile Drive begins near the rental and Carmel is a quick trip down some of the most scenic coastline. Monterey Rentals was a pleasure to work with. We received great communication and very thorough information about the rental, policies and key pick up and return (which was super convenient by he Aquarium) with a drop box so you can come and go as you need to. The photos on the website are very accurate — the rental is adorable. We would highly recommend it for two couples or a family and would stay there again if we return to the area. less

Cute house, Great Location!

Our family of 4 stayed at the Boathouse over Thanksgiving weekend. We arrived to find everything in perfect order. The house is cozy and welcoming with all the supplies you could need included. Even bath gels, shampoos, and a hairdryer like a hotel would supply!... more The location can't be beat - it is an easy walk to the ocean and the view out the living room windows is breathtaking. We easily walked down to the water on several mornings during our stay. The neighborhood was lovely and very quiet at night. A couple of observations - the garage is small and likely would not accommodate a large SUV. We have a smaller size SUV and the fit was pretty snug. Still, we were happy to be able to pull the car in for the night. My one suggestion for improvement would be the addition of a memory foam topper for the bed in the master bedroom. It was a bit stiff for our taste, but we doubled up one of the extra comforters we found in the closet as a makeshift topper and that worked well. The office area with computer was an added bonus as my daughter had homework and college applications to finish and this gave her a quiet place to work. All in all, a lovely and comfortable little house where it was easy to relax. We love PG and this house is definitely a hidden gem. less

Excellent time at the boathouse

My wife had mentioned to me that she wanted us all to visit Monterey Bay Aquarium for her 40th birthday. I was thinking she was expecting some new multi-carrot car-priced wedding ring and a huge catered surprise party. So I quickly started looking for hotel... more rooms in Monterey. I saw the boathouse was about the same price as the hotel rooms I was looking at and I thought "why not it seems like a nice place". The boathouse far exceeded all of our expectations, the value compared to a dinky hotel room is just ridiculous. Walking into it is like walking into one of those show homes for a nice development. The beds were comfortable, everything worked perfectly (internet, hot-water, tv -etc). Our kids even found that the coffee table was stocked with board games. One night we played a Pirates of the Caribbean - themed life game, they loved it. My wife now wants me to remodel our bathroom like the master bathroom in the boathouse. You have a clear view of the ocean our most of the windows, oh and of course they have binoculars and telescopes available to use. The neighborhood is picture perfect and quiet - and probably mostly populated by retired admirals. All in all I can't recommend the boathouse enough, our kids loved it, my wife was really impressed by it. The bar has been raised, on any future vacation I will probably hear "this isn't as good as the boathouse in Monterey"... less

Although the home looks somewhat modest from the outside, once you open the front door you realize how special the... more place is. There were just two of us, so the place had more than enough space for us and all of the stuff we brought along. Amenities were excellent, and the kitchen is well equipped. We prepared a dish for a potluck we were attending and the kitchen had everything we needed. Even some spices that we forgot to bring along. I would recommend the Boathouse to anyone wanting an alternative to staying in a (luxury) hotel. We certainly would not give a second thought to staying at the Boathouse again. less

Week Stay at the Boathouse

We needed a home for our week's stay in early August. The home is ideally located and extremely comfortable for our family and needs. Any issue or questions we had were quickly answered by Debra, property manager. We appreciated her prompt calls and or emails.... more This was the 3rd home we had rented for our stay in PG and based on the other homes, I would recommend that the Boathouse provide the shower gel, hair shampoo/conditioner. Great Location!

I recently traveled to Northern California to visit San Francisco, Napa and Monterey! I'm so glad we left the best for last! Loved staying at the Boathouse!

My sister and I recently stayed three nights at the boathouse in Pacific Grove. We wished we could have stayed longer. It was so comfortable and felt like home to us. The house is beautifully decorated and very clean, and I'm fussy! It had everything... more we needed. We cooked dinner each night because we both like to cook, and found the kitchen very easy and had everything you could imagine you would need. My advise would be to park your car in the garage, which we did after the first night, because the Monterey Pine does drop sap on your car. Enjoyed our stay however as the couple who flipped the coin for the twin room it was disappointingly small and quality of bedding did not compare to king room. The sheets were brushed cotton on one bed which I had to change as they were... more very rough. Single beds very small, I am 5'6" not very tall and feet reaching the bottom of the bed. I was glad we were only there for 3 nights. Photos gave impression that twin room was a fair size! There was not a lot of room to move with our large cases on the floor. The home is lovely with quality details which we all appreciated. We do recommend that the bedroom with the twin beds replace the beds and mattresses. I walk every day and it was very close to the ocean path. I really can't think of one thing I didn't like about this home. I will book it for every stay if it is available. less

Relaxing retreat home, with a great location

Our Thanksgiving weekend was fabulous

We stayed here Thanksgiving weekend and our stay at the Boathouse was fabulous! The house is totally equipped with everything. The only suggestion I would have is if you're going to do alot of cooking, bring your spices. The home was very comfortable and relaxing.... more I loved the big windows. The location was perfect! Very cozy and comfortable :) outstanding location..

My husband and myself and our two children ages 9&13 enjoyed our trip to Pacific Grove very much. The Boat House was a very pleasant surprise. A family of four fits very comfortably in this property. We were able to walk to the most beautiful... more beach in California and into town for meals etc. and were a very short drive from anything else we desired to do. The aquarium passes were a very big plus and it was a lovely experience. The beds and linnens were of very good quality. My suggestions for the property are as follows: Have printed instructions for wi-fi access and television remotes. Leave coffee, creamer butter and other essentials in the fridge that other guests may have left behind as a convenience for new guests. Keep spices and other dry goods in the pantry if another customer chooses to leave them. Other homes we have rented have more well stocked pantries with basic supplies, sugar, creamer, boxed cereal etc. Most of us shop well when renting these types of places and know that I personally left many brand new un opened items behind. This is a very nice convenience for arriving guests. I could not even find sugar for my coffee or honey for tea. The shelves were completely empty in the boat house. No salt, pepper, sugar etc. I would paint the exterior of the home white or yellow and give the home a fresh new look from the exterior. The very drab fawn color detracts from the true charm and beauty of the home and gardens. I would include a book of "things to do" local eateries and take out menus. In other homes we have rented, we have relied heavily on this sort of information. Last but not least, quality bath robes and slippers would be a huge perk for guests. I would even have them embroidered with "boat house" on the front pocket for added panache. All in all, we loved the place! We do plan to come back again soon :)) Thank you, Robin Compagno less

The Boathouse

We loved the house, the location, the weekend. And of course October is perfect coast weather for Ca. Definitely on our list to come back and bring our friends and family. The setup was perfect and tons of room for a get together. The one... more change I would suggest is the coffee maker. It takes forever to brew a pot. I would suggest a Kuerig machine as it can do both the preset pods or has a filter to bring your own and brew. Otherwise...Loved it!!! less

Style over Substance

Cute place. Nice sea shell displays around but no DVD player. Nice boat displays around the house but only 2 covered microwave dishes to cook in. Nice pictures on the walls but we had to wash the dishes and pots/pans before we could use them.... more Nice throw pillows but not a single fan in the house (including restrooms) to move any air after a shower or cool the house on a warm day. Nice view of the bay (through the power lines) but a cable package that doesn't even get the Science channel, National Geographic or DIY. Bed is comfortable and the furniture is good. Mildew stained shower curtain and several lengths and colors of human hair on the back of the bathroom door and wall. Garage door opener is mounted too low to park a PU or SUV inside. With one days work and a few hundred dollars this could be a very nice place. We were there for 30 days but until the details are taken care of the cute accent pieces and comfortable furniture do not balance out the things a person needs to make it a pleasurable experience. Everything we had hoped for and more

The boat house was just like the pictures showed. The house was homey and comfortable. It had all the amenities that we needed. The location was great, close to the ocean, downtown pacific grove and walking distance to the aquarium and cannery row.

Great place for a family get-together.

Great location near ocean and Pacific Grove stores. We enjoyed nautical theme of "The Boat House.' Ideal for our three generation vacation and family enjoyed Monterrey aquarium. We arrived at the Boat House several days before our wedding and were instantly pleased with our choice! We were greeted by beautiful, simple decor in a pristine home. From the rose garden out back where we had morning coffee to the windows and skylights... more that brought in lots of natural light, we found our stay at the Boat House very comfortable and homey. Picture Perfect

We are first time home renters in the Monterey Bay area and absolutely love this little house. Great Value and Location

We booked a last minute stay for Memorial Day weekend, and were pleasantly surprised at how nice this property was. We didn't have a lot of choice and were worried about what a "last minute" property would be like, but the property was perfect for... more 2 couples. Although it wasn't on the beach, we were close, and it was a very convenient location, a block from the main road through Monterey and Pacific Grove.
